In designing the Lapsteel I wanted to achieve levels of sustain similar to the human voice with a tone that was both punchy and well defined. I accomplished this by combining one of my standard Blues 90 bridge pickups with a solid piece of my favourite tone wood, Victorian Ash. With the string vibrations being transferred through the body via a custom made solid brass bridge, this little guitar is capable of huge tone and singing sustain whether you’re running flat-out distortion, smooth overdrive or good old fashioned clean. Only top quality hardware is employed with the standard model featuring volume and tone controls. The Pro Model also features one of my Reverse Wound/Reverse Polarity (RW/RP) Strat style pickups in the neck position, accompanied by my 4-way pickup selector plus tone and volume controls. This allows for a variety of great tones including one that is hum-free. The 6 string Jim Dyson lapsteel guitar comes standard in a natural finish, but can be ordered in Walnut, Dark Mahogany or Black tint at no extra cost. The price is A$795, left-handed at no extra cost, case not included and the Pro Model is A$950.
